There are different levels of knowledge. The first is doxa (opinion, less reasoned as it relies only on empirical experience). It is linked to imagination or belief and is therefore not completely reliable.
At the highest level is episteme (science). This can make use of dianoia, intermediate knowledge, the use of language to understand certain phenomena, or noesis. This is intellection, that is, the ability to see the first causes of phenomena.
